The living costs in Shanghai are estimated to be at a basic level of USD7,500 for a single person for the 15-month

MSc, program. For those who are admitted to the 4-month English course, the minimum living costs will be USD10,500 for the 19-month programme.

Within the campus of Shanghai Maritime University, accommodation facilities are available on request for overseas students. These are standard rooms and each room is equipped with 2 single beds, 2 tables, 2 chairs, a TV set, an air-conditioner, 2 bookcases, 2 closets, a bathroom, internet access and a telephone. The room has a balcony. The current room rate for each person is RMB 1,300 per month when two students share one room, or RMB 2,600 per month when one student occupies the room. Student can connect their own computer to the internet via the rooms’ access points. The room fee includes an electricity consumption of 70KW/hour per month, any extra consumption is to be paid by the student. Neither the internet use nor telephone bill is included in the monthly room charge. Chinese style breakfast, lunch and dinner can be easily had at one of the student restaurants/cafeteria on Campus at low price. Cooking in the room is not allowed, but there is a simple kitchen on each floor which students can share.
