This Webinar will introduce the White Paper “Towards a Safety Learning Culture for the Shipping Industry”, which has been developed within the framework of the EU-funded SAFEMODE project and involves a maritime-aviation partnership.
The White Paper explores Safety Culture via interviews of national investigators and seafarers, as well as discussions with maritime stakeholders such as shipping companies, NGOs and regulators. Further, the paper stresses the importance of a Safety Learning Culture and proposes ten good practices to enhance Safety Learning. Finally, the paper presents several maritime use cases showing Safety Learning in practice within the shipping industry today.
Participants will gain an overview of key safety reporting and learning practices in the shipping industry and proposed Safety Learning approaches. Following the presentation, the panellists will discuss the issue of Safety Culture andLearning Culture in shipping, including its possibilities and limitations.
The White Paper will be freely available to download at the project website on 7 April 2022.
