The World Ocean Day takes place every year on 8 June. Annually, Japan celebrates Marine Day on the third Monday in July which falls on 17 July this year.

Ambassador of Japan to Sweden Visits WMU

Propeller Donated by Nakashima Propeller Co., Ltd.

On 5 June, Mr. Motoyoshi Nakashima, President, Nakashima Propeller Co., Ltd., was at WMU for a ceremonial inauguration of the propeller that his company donated to WMU and the City of Malmö. The ceremonial ribbon cutting was done by Mr. Nakashima and Kent Andersson, Chairman, Malmö City Council.

Expanding Research Opportunities with Japan Maritime Center

Beyond the Horizon Exhibit at WMU

Beyond the Horizon debuted in 1987 and is a traveling exhibition of amateur photographs taken by Hato-kai, a group of Japanese seafarers who work on ocean-going vessels and visualize impressions of nature from the view of seafarers.

Sasakawa Fellowship Students Japan Field Study
