EPDC Delivered in Jordan

From 29 November to 03 December 2015, WMU delivered an Executive Professional Development Course for the Jordan Academy for Maritime Studies (JAMS) in Amman, Jordan. Associate Professor Michael Manuel led the course which was entitled Training Course for Assessment, Examination and Certification of Seafarers (Administrators, Trainers and Assessors).

The five-day course was delivered to 20 participants, including some from the Jordan Maritime Commission. The contents were based on the requirements of STCW Regulation I/6 – Training and Assessment, and STCW Code A-I/6 – Training and Assessment, with a consideration of the contents of IMO Model Course 3.12. The aim of the course was to increase participants' knowledge and competence in the administration and monitoring of seafarer assessment and certification processes as well as in operational techniques for such assessment in a quality management context.

The course was the first offering to take place under the Memorandum of Understanding that was signed between JAMS and WMU via correspondence in August of 2015.
