MSEM Graduation 2013, Dalian

The graduation ceremony for the Maritime Safety & Environmental Management program, Class of 2013, took place at Dalian Maritime University on 25 August. This year marked the eighth graduation for the program that was started in 2005. A total of 41 students, all from China, graduated with M.Sc. degrees. Mr. Liu Yunjiang received the Chancellor’s Medal for Academic Excellence, and Mr. Cao Yali, Mr. Zhou Anfu and Mr. Zhou Lian received Best Research Paper awards.

WMU President, Dr. Björn Kjerfve, conferred the degrees. Also in attendance were Professor Shuo Ma, Vice President (International) of WMU and the Director of the MSEM program, Dr. Wang Zuwen, President of Dalian Maritime University (DMU), Professor Liu Zhengjiang, Vice President of DMU, and several DMU faculty involved in the MSEM program. Family members and friends of the graduates attended the ceremony along with the students of the MSEM 2014 class and a number of representatives of the nominating authorities.

At the beginning of the event, the Presidents of WMU and DMU signed an extension of the Cooperation Agreement on the delivery of the MSEM program in Dalian.
