Collaboration with Northern Marine Management and City of Glasgow College

On 2 November, WMU welcomed Kevin Slade, Director, Northern Marine Management (NMM), for the Class of 2014 graduation ceremony. In early October, a delegation from WMU including Acting President, Neil Bellefontaine, Associate Professor, Michael Manuel, and Director of Administration, Anders Ihr, traveled to Glasgow to meet with Mr. Slade and Paul Little, Principal and Chief Executive of the City of Glasgow College (CGC). The purpose of the visit was to discuss ways NMM, CGC, and WMU can collaborate to support the advancement of the Centro de Formação Marítima (CFMA) in Angola.

The three organizations are now in the process of developing a MoU that would support funded M.Sc. students from CFMA, provide for WMU to lead professional development courses in Angola, support development of the CFMA curriculum, and promote cooperation on an Online Open Source Course as well as research collaboration.
