The WMU Executive Board (EB) held its 21st Session at IMO Headquarters in London on 08 December 2017. It was preceded by meetings of the Endowment Fund Development and Investment Committees on 07 December 2017. Both Committees updated the EB members on progress made towards operationalizing the WMU Endowment Fund in 2018.

On 3 November, Mr. Reinhard Klingen, Director-General Waterways and Shipping in the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure of Germany, visited WMU accompanied by WMU Governor, Professor Peter Ehlers. Mr. Klingen met with President Doumbia-Henry and confirmed the strong interest of Germany in further engaging with WMU.
