Jeffrey Blum has been involved in shipping and trading since 1972. He is the fourth generation of a shipping family, has been a member of the Baltic Exchange since 1976 and has worked with a Lloyd's underwriter and as a shipbroker, ship owner, gasoil futures broker, charterer and commodities trader in London and abroad.
Interlink International Trading (UK) Ltd was founded by him in 1994, providing maritime and commodities commercial claims consultancy and bespoke corporate training. His clients include oil majors, commodity traders, shipowners, P&I Clubs, shipbrokers, law firms and international shipping organisations.
Jeffrey also co-founded and is the principal lecturer of Maritime Education & Training Ltd, which provides evening class tuition for international students in London who take the annual examinations of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers. For many years he has contributed articles to trade magazines and textbooks.
He achieved Fellowship of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers by examination in 1979 and has served on the ICS International Controlling Council, Membership Committee and the UK & Ireland Zone Committee. He was on the London & South East Branch Committee from 1983 until 2017, including its Education Officer 2000 - 2015, Chairman 2005-2007 and Vice Chairman 2015-2017.
Jeffrey is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, is a Supporting Member of the London Maritime Arbitrators Association and has been an arbitrator (both sole and tribunal) and expert witness on many cases since 1983. He has been on the controlling council of ICSAS (International Commodity and Shipping Arbitration Service) since its creation in 2005.
Since 1984 he has been lecturing on several subjects of Maritime Studies and Law at universities and colleges in London and throughout the UK. He is a Visiting Professor of the World Maritime University at Malmo and the Shanghai Maritime University and is a frequent guest presenter at conferences and masterclass workshops worldwide.
