Empowering Women Forum: Meet and Greet

The 'Empowering Women Forum: Meet-and-Greet' Session will take place on 23 May at 15:00-16:30 CEST, organized by the Empowering Women Forum, in collaboration with the Decade Coordination Unit (DCU) and the Decade Network.

The session will present the work undertaken by the DCU, the Decade Network and the Empowering Women for the Ocean Decade Programme. There will be opportunities to learn from other participants of the Forum, as well as breakout discussions.

The Empowering Women Forum is established by the research and capacity development Programme on Empowering Women for the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (Empowering Women for the Ocean Decade Programme). This Programme is generously supported by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) and The Nippon Foundation and the work is carried out by a multidisciplinary team at the World Maritime University-Sasakawa Global Ocean Institute.

The Empowering Women Forum is operated as part of the Programme’s Stakeholder Consultative Forum. Participants are called on to, individually and collectively, raise awareness and advocate gender equality and the empowerment of women in their respective workplaces and at all relevant international fora. This interactive digital platform will facilitate coordination amongst partners working on the theme of women’s empowerment to optimise collective impact throughout the Ocean Decade.
