Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Sweden Visits WMU

On 4 November, the World Maritime University (WMU) welcomed H.E. Enass Alshahwan, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Kingdom of Sweden. The courtesy visit with Dr. Cleopatra Doumbia-Henry, President of WMU, provided the opportunity for Ambassador Alshahwan, who was appointed to Sweden in June 2021, to learn more about WMU’s educational programmes and research activities as well as to discuss areas of potential cooperation.

Through support for IMO’s technical cooperation activities, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia provided US $300,000 to the WMU Endowment Fund in 2017. To date, there are 56 WMU graduates from Saudi Arabia, 50 of whom have been sponsored by different ministries and departments within the Government of Saudi Arabia to study in the WMU Master of Science in Maritime Affairs programme in Malmö.
