MSEA field trip to IMO

July 13 -16, 2015 - A group of 15 MSEA students visited IMO and were invited to attend sessions of the sub-committee on Implementation of IMO Instruments (III).

The sub-committee's second session, chaired by Captain Dwain Hutchinson (Bahamas), was opened by IMO Sec.Gen. Koji Sekimizu. Items on the agenda included casualty analysis, harmonisation of port State control activities and procedures and unified interpretation of the provisions of IMO conventions. 

The trip went on to include a visit to the Security Association for the Maritime Industry (SAMI) at their Headquarter on HQS Wellington on July 15. The following day, July 16, the students visited the UK Maritime & Coast Guard Agency (MCA) in Southampton. A visit to the National Maritime Operation Centre (NMOC) concluded the day.

Accompanying the MSEA students were Assistant Professor Dimitrios Dalaklis and PhD Student/Research Assistant Armando Graziano.
