Second EPDC delivered in Djibouti 2014

For the second time this year, WMU collaborated with a consortium led by France Expertise Internationale (FEI) and delivered an Executive Professional Development Course (EPDC) in Djibouti. The course, conducted 16-20 November, was entitled “Enhancing Maritime Security and Safety Through Information Sharing and Capacity Building” and the WMU instructor for the 5-day long course was Dr. Dimitrios Dalaklis. The 14 participants came from all parts of Somalia, brining them together to further discuss best practices in the management of Maritime Affairs. The focus this time was on the management of the seafarers from an administrative point of view, and  the government of the relationship between seafarers and their administrative authority.

During the week the participants listened to presentations from Dr. Dalaklis and Ms. Josephine Nthia (MET 2013), Assistant Registrar of Seafarers at the Kenyan Maritime Authority.
