Two EPDCs Delivered in Manila

Professor Ilias Visvikis travelled to Manila, Philippines, to deliver two open enrollment courses in collaboration with the Philippine Transmarine Carriers, Inc. (PTC): Shipping Finance and Financial Maritime Management (2 Jul - 4 Jul 2015) and Shipping and Risk Management (6 Jul - 8 Jul 2015).

The Shipping Finance and Financial Maritime Management focused on providing an analytical and integrated study of problems, issues and methods involved in ship finance and investment appraisal, focusing on the critical evaluation of the various financial methods under risky and uncertain situations. It covered the general principles of shipping financial management and the impact of economic variables on the financial operations of shipping business organizations using both a theoretical and a practical approach.

The Shipping and Risk Management course gave the participants expertise in shipping and risk management, and identification of strategic challenges in shipping. It offered a critical understanding of how all methods of shipping risk management, including shipping derivatives, how it can be applied in the day-to-day business practice in shipping. The programme also gave the participants an understanding of the strategic challenges in shipping, including operational and commercial issues and financial risk management.

The courses were delivered as stand alone courses, but many participants from the local maritime market opted for the opportunity to attend both.
