WMU Executive Board Meets in Malmö

The WMU Executive Board (EB) met in Malmö on 8 September. It was the first EB meeting since President Doumbia-Henry assumed office in June. In attendance were EB Chairman, Torben Skaanild, Secretary General/CEO of BIMCO (ret.), Svein Buvik, Senior Vice President Administration, Gard AS, Nicolaos Charalambous, Director, Technical Co-operation Division of the International Maritime Organization, Gunilla Malmlöf, Chief Legal Counsel, Swedish Maritime Administration, Hiroshi Terashima, Executive Director, Sasakawa Peace Foundation, and Rolf Westerström, CEO, Swedish Sea Rescue Society.

The 11-person EB  is appointed by the IMO Secretary-General to help facilitate the work of WMU, provide oversight between sessions of the BoG, give directions and guidelines as necessary, consider draft plans of work and budgets, report to the BoG, and meet no less than three times a year. Members of the EB serve renewable two-year terms. A current list of EB members can be found here.
