WMU at the WISTA Conference

From 15 to 16 September, WMU´s Dr. Momoko Kitada and Dr. Birgit Nolte-Schuster participated in the WISTA (Women‘s International Shipping and Trading Association) Conference in Stockholm. The topic was „Leadership-opportunities for the future“ and in his keynote speech, IMO’s Secretary-General, Mr Efthimios Mitropoulos particularly stressed the demands on leadership placed by global development. The various workshops during the two days dealt with the challenges of „Successful recruitment in shipping“, „Managing multicultural teams“, „Human factors and system safety“, „Women on Board“ and „New fuels and new ship design“. Different speeches and panel debates, including one entitled. „Where is shipping in ten years?“ completed the working agenda, and avisit to the Nobel Museum and a gala dinner at the Vasa Museum rounded this meeting off impressively.
