Annalisse Sly is the Alternate Permanent Representative of Australia to the International Maritime Organization (IMO). Prior to being appointed to this role in December 2019, Annalisse held the role of Policy and Regulatory Senior Advisor, Environment Standards, in the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) and was responsible for developing, implementing and interpreting international conventions, government policy and legislation, to achieve a reduction in the incidence and effect of ship sourced marine pollution and other adverse environmental effects from shipping activities. Annalisse has been active in the IMO for over a decade where she has formed part of the Australian delegation for a number of IMO Committee and Sub-Committee meetings and Chaired the Working Group on Marine Plastic Litter, established by the Marine Environment Protection Committee. Annalisse has also been active in the IMO’s Integrated Technical Cooperation Programme, undertaking engagement in the Asia-Pacific region on environmental shipping issues. Prior to joining AMSA in November 2011, Annalisse worked in policy development for the prevention and management of marine pest incursions for the Australian Government.
