Mr. Hans De Veene is a distinguished maritime leader and investigator. His career is defined by a rare blend of operational command and cross-industry executive expertise. After graduating from the Antwerp Maritime Academy, Mr. De Veene embarked on a career at sea, rising to the rank of Captain. Commanding primarily chemical tankers, he mastered the complexities of high-stakes logistics, safety protocols, and crew management in one of the world’s most demanding environments.

Transitioning ashore, Mr. Hans De Veene translated his leadership acumen into the corporate sector, holding various managerial roles within the aerospace and automotive industries. This period sharpened his ability to navigate complex manufacturing standards and global supply chains.

Currently, he serves as the Head of the Belgian government's Maritime Accident Investigation Body. In this pivotal role, he leverages his deep nautical heritage and multi-sector experience to enhance maritime safety, leading critical investigations that shape national and international maritime policy.
