Prof. Dr. Max Johns is Vice President Academic at HSBA Hamburg School of Business Administration in Germany where he is professor for maritime economics and chair of the Maritime Business School @ HSBA. He graduated from Université Paul Valèry in Montpellier (France) with a Bachelor and Master, an MBA from KU Leuven (Belgium) and did his PhD at Eberhard-Karls-University in Tübingen (Germany).
He was SVP New Media at German Broadcaster ZDF, Head of New Media at Eurovision in Geneva and Managing Director and Director Communications at VDR German Shipowners’ Association.
Johns was Chair and Chief Negotiator of the shipowners’ group for minimum wages and the MLC at ILO (2018-23), Board Member of ICS (2012-23), member of the BIMCO Documentary Committee and serves on several Boards and Advisory Committees.
