Dr Mustafa İNSEL (MRINA) is a naval architect and marine engineer. In his Ph.D. thesis, he developed experimental and computational methodologies to investigate the resistance components of high speed displacement catamarans.

He has been working as a lecturer in Istanbul Technical University (Turkey) since 1991. He is currently senator in Istanbul Technical University, and coordinator of EU research office. He is also coordinator of Yacht and High Performance Vehicles Research and Application Group, Istanbul Technical University. He is also member of trustees in Piri Reis University (Turkey). He is lecturing in the yacht design postgraduate program of Izmir Economy University (Turkey).

He has worked as a visiting research fellow in University of Southampton (UK) and University of New South Wales (Australia) in the area of Naval Architecture. He acted as chairmen of the board in Turkish ship classification society, Turkish Loyd between 2007-2011.

His teaching at the postgraduate and undergraduate levels has focused on Naval Architecture, Ship Design, Yacht Design, as well as conducting research in yacht and ship design, resistance reduction methodologies, air lubrication, shipboard noise, energy efficiency improvement and emission reduction methodologies. He has participated in EU research programmes as evaluator, reviewer, researcher and programme committee expert.
