Guest Lecture on Containerization and Maersk

As part of the Contemporary Maritime Issues Seminar, WMU welcomed two guest lecturers on 12 August; Mr. Chris Jephson, Director at A P Møller- Maersk and co-author of the recently published book Creating Global Opportunities; Maersk Line in Containerization 1973-2013; and Mr. Lars Jensen, CEO of SeaIntel Maritime Analysis and author of the recently published book Culture Shock in Maersk Line - From Entrepreneurs and Kings to Modern Efficiency. In a joint presentation, they provided a thorough overview of how containerization has changed the world of trade and shipping, including how it changed Maersk, the world's leading container shipping operator. The lecture was open to all students in the M.Sc. program.
